Greatest Boxing Fights of 2007

These are my top 5 greatest Boxing fights of 2007 for me, I am sure some of you will disagree with me and that’s ok.

5. Ricardo Mayorga and Fernando Vargas: Fernando Vargas demonstrated that he still has a lot of heart. Fernando also demonstrated he could make weight no matter what; I take my hats off for making weight come on 260 to 168 that’s not bad. Ricardo Mayorga look decent and fought very well Mayorga knocked Vargas down in the first and eleventh rounds. Vargas and Mayorga promoted this fight very well each press conference where entertaining. Click here to read more about this fight.

4. Floyd Mayweather, Jr. vs Ricky Hatton: This fight is on my list because I was so excited and pumped up in the hopes of Ricky Hatton kicking Mayweathers ass. The fight was also entertaining it was dirty and I personally think besides Luis Castillo, Hatton would have had a great opportunity to win this fight if he didn’t run out of gas. And to see one of my favorite boxers (Hatton) get knocked out with a beautiful brutal punch its priceless. Click here to read more about this fight.

3. Miguel Cotto vs  Zab Judah : This fight was exciting. As usual, Judah shocked and showed his speed and power during this fight. Cotto destroyed Judah into submission like no fighter had ever done before. Judah's ruthless style and Cotto's shaky chin kept fans on their toes for 10 rounds, until Judah finally succumbed in round 11. Click here to see video

2. Israel Vazquez vs Rafael Marquez II: Hardcore boxing fans got a real treat On March 3 when Rafael Marquez won the first Fight, Vasquez quit because he couldn't breathe. 8 months later two great fighters in their prime taking on each other are the perfect ingredients for a hell of a rematch. Words can describe the action pack of this fight you have to watch this fight. Click here to watch this tremendous fight.

1. Kelly Pavlik vs Jermain Taylor: What do you get when two undefeated fighters meet, in their physical primes, for the undisputed middleweight championship of the world? You get the 2007 fight of the year. For some, the win was an expectation, for others, impossibility. I don’t think no one predicted that it would end in a stunning knockout by an underdog challenger. Both fighters were aggressive Taylor had Pavlik hurt early in the rounds. Jermain knocked Pavlik down on the canvass but didn’t finish him and Pavlik wobbling to get back on his feet by round 7 The Ghost raise and came back despite being behind on all scorecards he scored a knock out victory. Jermain Taylor was unconscious before he hit the ground, that night there was a new middle weight champion - Kelly Pavlik. Click here to see this fight.
