The one loss gang
It’s a tough first quarter for prospects and young champs, March especially. First, Paul Williams received his first loss to Carlos Quintana and then young Juan Diaz took a beating from the older and craftier Nate "Galaxy Warrior" Campbell. I love that nickname. Then, we saw Andy Lee get shocked by Brian Vera Friday. Saturday saw the exciting Michael Katsidis get blitzed by another more experienced boxer Joel Cassamayor. Concerns, a few but for the most part all four guys can bounce back. P-Will should train hard and be back in no time. If he wins the rematch with Quintana in June, Juan Diaz should be fine too. I have said before if Juan Diaz dedicates himself to boxing only, he will be a champ again and maybe one of the best in the sport. Losing to Campbell and staying on your feet is a good sign and he should be back in no time.
Lee’s loss is puzzling; you should be able to get by a Vera at this stage of your career. Lee and Emmanuel Steward may have to go back to the drawing board and look at this loss as the beginning of a new Andy Lee, better than the one before. The Katsidis loss was typical of how he fights. His career is probably going to be a short one and he would do well to stay away from tough southpaws. Katsidis is perfect for young, straight forward fighters who will make for interesting fights. Don’t put him in with great boxers. Remember Gatti/Mayweather? I hope not. I don’t want to see that again in any shape or form.

we need to remember that reality is Nate Campbell was on a serious illegal substance for his bout with Diaz. I don't even consider it a loss for Diaz. You can argue that you are innocent until proven guilty but there is a reason why he chose to leave the arena rather than take the drug test. If you watch his performance you will also see that its no wonder he was the only fighter ever to break the will of Diaz by talking shit after every round no matter how grueling the round was. without the illegal drugs, Campbell would have folded within 6!!!

WOW! I had no idea he was on something. That pisses me off. I hope Diaz gets him again when he is clean and beats the crap out of Campbell. The sport is too brutal for cheaters like that.

Edgar, what are you thoughts on the drug charges against Campbell?

I don’t think Campbell was in drugs, and it goes both ways Diaz didn’t take a drug test either. And Plus not every one who takes drugs or steroids wins a fight, remember when Fernando Vargas he was guilty of taking steroids and he still lost to Oscar DLH.
