Calling all Vikings!

What happened to Mikkel Kessler (39-1 29 KOs) against Edison Miranda (30-2, 26 KOs) on May 24th?  We heard the fight was set and Showtime stepped up to televise it and now today we find out Kessler pulled out!  Huh?  Can you say Jeff Lacy?  (I really pick on him by they way).

I say that  because Kessler was 38-0 when he took a beating from Joe Calzaghe in November of 2007.  Jeff Lacy was 21-0 when Calzaghe absolutely dismantled him  over 12 rounds in March of 2006 and since then, Lacy has fought 2 times.  Yes, 2 times in 2 years.  Is Kessler following suit?  Is he hurt?  Is he afraid of Miranda's power?  Whatever the case, Kessler is looking pretty average at this time and his fan base in America is probably gone.

I think he would have beaten Miranda and it would have been the appropriate jumpstart to his career.  Now, what are his options.  He looks like he is afraid and who likes a scared fighter?  Come on Kessler, get back in the ring while you can and don't be a another one loss burnout.  Readers, do you like Kessler or are you over him?

I was never convinced that Mikkel Kessler was the real deal in the Super-Middleweight Division, and he proved me right when he fought Joe Calzaghe. Kessler needs to mature a little more and become a better rounded fighter, instead of just trying to bully his opponents.
As far as him pulling out of the fight against Edison "Pantera" Miranda, I doubt it was Kessler's decision. I'm more inclined to think that this was a managerial move. Why? You have to ask yourself "If I was his manager, would I put him in against Miranda?” the answer is, Hell No! This kid just got brutally dismantled by a superior fighter (Calzaghe). Why put him in against a fighter that's hungry and has the power to end the fight with one punch?
The fight against Miranda only makes sense if it were for a belt from a major sanctioning body. Besides, Kessler can make some money and regain his confidence by fighting some European Tomato Can. I really hope this fight can be made in the near future for the sake of boxing and all of us boxing fans, but I don't believe Mikkel Kessler's promoter and management want to commit professional suicide just yet. For now they will be content with the interest/free promotion they got by implying Kessler would fight Edison “Pantera” Miranda, and wait until their fighter is ready or obligated to fight him.

I dont think Miranda can handle a boxer with a strong jab like Kessler. He must be a girlie though, quitting on a fight. As far as protecting Kessler, he is not a kid anymore and he fought Calzaghe, the best. Why would Miranda scare him, it didn't scare Pavlik?
