Boxing’s best at Morongo Casino Resort & Spa
Cabazon, California (April 30, 2008) – The July issue of Ring Magazine, considered to be the “bible of boxing” since 1922, has ranked their top fighters per weight class and Morongo has hosted five “Top 10” boxers this year. This validates Morongo’s efforts to provide unbeatable boxing excitement for the region.
To date, Morongo has hosted bouts featuring #3 ranked Jr. Featherweight Daniel Ponce DeLeon, #4 rated Super Middleweight Librado Andrade who will fight next for the IBF World Title, Lightweight Champion Joel Casamayor and #6 rated Michael Katsidis, who put on one of the best fights in all of boxing during their March 22 title fight on HBO.
Most recently Morongo hosted #6 rated Bantamweight Jhonny Gonzalez who fought April 4th and will be returning May 16th.
Past world champions have also been featured at Morongo. Carlos Baldomir, Jesus “El Matador” Chavez, and Kassim Ouma and the winner of the Contender Champion Sergio Mora have all battled at the property. It is also not uncommon to see current superstars at fight night. Oscar De La Hoya, Lennox Lewis, Shane Mosley, Bernard Hopkins, Nate Campbell, Mike Weaver, Tommy Morrison and Jose Luis Castillo have all been in attendance at recent bout.
“Morongo is the home of BIG TIME BOXING,” Sean Sullivan, general manager of the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa. “Where else in the area can you see the quality of boxing and top ranked fighters at the prices we offer?”
