Drama between promoters
One might think drama is only seen in reality shows… Well is not always true, there is drama everywhere. Nacho Huizar, the lead promoter for KO Entertainment and the promoter for the upcoming "Noche De Campeones" featuring Cristian Mijares and Alexander Muñoz scheduled for Saturday May 17 on PPV. Well…Top Rank is also presenting a pay-per-view event from Mexico on the same night featuring Jorge Arce vs Devid Lookmahanak. "We had the date first," states Huizar. "They've tried to disrupt my promotion by offering some of the fighters like Muñoz more money. This is business. It's a war between promoters. But we aren't worried. We've gotten plenty of support from Fox Sports Net, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Classic among others to promote the fight card and I don't think Top Rank and Fernando Beltran have the same support," Huizar continued. "I guarantee my event will do ten times more numbers than theirs. There is interest all over the world for our fight and this will prove that Mijares is bigger than Arce."
On the same night of Oscar De La Hoya fight, Bob Arum of Top Rank had scheduled a media press conference to announcing Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz world title fight which was postponed due to Pacquiao’s schedule but insiders tell us this publicity stunt was just to get back at Golden Boy who has used this tactic in the past.
Golden Boy Promotions feels the judges in Las Vegas go against Golden Boy when theirs a close fight and I have to agree on that one, anyways the point is that theirs is so much drama in boxing and I LOVE IT maybe that’s why reality shows are big success.
