“I was offered this opportunity in the 108 lbs division and I decided to take it. It was tough fight and unfortunately I was not given the win although I felt that I finished the fight stronger than Solis. I think the fight was very close and my hometown fans were not thrilled with the result but that fight is the one that opened the doors for me to where I am today.”

Salado has fought as heavy as 115 lbs. but feels more comfortable in the lighter flyweight division “I feel good at 115 lbs. I won the WBA Fedelatin super flyweight title in ‘05 but decided not to defend it and I recently won a light flyweight eliminator for the WBC against Gilberto Keb Bass but didn’t go after the title because my ideal weight is 112 lbs. that is where I feel the strongest and the best at.”

Originally from Acapulco, MX, Salado made the trek north like many of his country men looking for greener pastures. He settled in the border town of Tijuana, MX, where he has resided for the last five years. Taking part in his first amateur fight at the age of nine, the now twenty eight year old retired from the sport for a short period before taking it up again in junior high school “there was a man down the street from where I lived in Acapulco who trained so many of my friends and I decided to take it up but I am the only one that continued this far with it…”

“I am ready to fight the style that is presented to me, if my rival wants to go toe to toe, I am ready and if he wants to box, I can do that too,” Salado states confidently. “First thing first, I have to win this elimination and then go after the champ, it that means traveling to Japan, I am ready.”

By Felipe Leon, SDFights.com

Joan Guzman wants Nate Campbell

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (May 15, 2008) – Now that Joan Guzman has vacated his WBO 130 pound title, the undefeated Dominican-born speedster is looking for a challenge at the lightweight level.

“I think Nate Campbell would be a perfect opponent for me,” said Guzman, who is a two-division champion with a record of 28-0 with 17 knockouts. “Nobody wants to fight Nate at 135 pounds and no one wants to fight me at 130 pounds. So let’s just fight each other.”

Guzman, who is promoted by Sycuan Ringside Promotions of San Diego, Calif., might not have to wait long to get his shot at Campbell.

“The WBO has assured Sycuan that Guzman will in fact become the number one contender at 135 pounds,” said Sean Gibbons, matchmaker for Sycuan Ringside Promotions.

“Nate doesn’t have a bunch of options right now. He thinks he’s going to get a shot at Joel Cassameyor, but that fight will never happen. Plain and simple, Nate’s best fight is against Guzman.”

“I’ve always been about fighting the best,” Guzman continued. “If Nate is truly a world champion he will accept the challenge that I have laid out for him.
“Twenty-eight boxers have tired to beat me and they all failed miserably. Nate will be number twenty-nine if he has the guts and courage to fight me.

“I’m ready to fight Nate anytime, any place, anywhere. A lot of boxers are afraid of me, but I sure hope Nate isn’t one of them.”

Guzman, who has won titles at the super bantamweight and super featherweight divisions, made the choice to move up in weight after he grew irritated with Alex Arthur and his promoter, Frank Warren of Sports Network.

Guzman was scheduled to defend his WBO 130 pound title on Saturday, May 3, in Edinburgh, Scotland but the fight was postponed. Although he has been ready to travel to Scotland at a moment’s notice, Warren has not scheduled a new date for the bout.

“My team and I have tried with every good intention to honor our agreement to fight Arthur in Scotland on May 3,” Guzman said. “Frank Warren and his team made every excuse possible to cancel the fight. My team and I decided that it is time for me to make my mark at the 135 pound division and I’m going to start with Nate Campbell.”

Super Flyweights Taking Over the World

This upcoming Saturday May 17th, a slew of diminutive destroyers take center stage as two independent of each other Pay per Views are planned from the hotbed of boxing, Mexico. From Aguascalientes, MX, former strawweight and interim flyweight WBC champ Jorge “Travieso” Arce faces an unknown challenger in the western hemisphere and more than likely in his native Thailand, Devid Lookmahanak (18-0, 9KO) in a WBC super flyweight eliminator bout. While in a much more meaningful bout, current WBC 115 lbs. titlist and Arce conqueror Cristian Mijares faces veteran Venezuelan Alexander Munoz in hopes of unifying his green belt with the latter’s WBA strap from Durango, MX.

In my conversation with Jorge Arce (48-4-1, 37KO) the morning of the Manny Pacquiao-Juan Manuel Marquez rematch back in March, “Travieso” made it quite clear that he was only interested in big name fights and his obvious frustration was easily palatable. His disappointment in not securing the big money fights is understandable since a couple of years ago Arce was poised to take the torch as the next big Mexican warrior from the likes of Erik Morales and Marco Antonio Barrera. With those bright shining stars clearly past their prime and with Arce’s exciting come forward blood and face be damned full of heart style, it was simple for “Travieso” to be the next engine for the passionate Mexican fans to hitch their wagon too.
But on the night of April 14th ‘07 when Arce met fellow Mexican Cristian Mijares, those plans came to a lopsided end. The technically superior southpaw Mijares took his time under the spotlight by the horns and completely dominated the popular Arce over twelve rounds to defend his WBC title with scores of 119-109, 118-110 and 117-111 which showed that Arce at best won only three rounds.

Since then, Arce had a tough time winning against another southpaw the insignificant WBC Latino bantamweight title versus Tomas Rojas late last year and defended it once already this past December.

The fall from the Top Rank pedestal was swift and painful.

Even though on Saturday night Arce will be headlining a Bob Arum produced Pay per View, it is a far cry from the fight cards Arce was either headlining or the semi main event a couple of years ago. With impressive fan friendly wins over the likes of Hussein Hussein twice and Rosendo Alvarez on big time undercards such as Morales-Pacquiao I, Castillo-Corrales II and Mayweather Jr.-Judah, Arce was able to win the hearts of die hard boxing fans as he would end the fights impressively more often than not bathed in his own blood. Arce even headlined a broadcast of HBO’s Boxing After Dark out of Los Angeles early last year when he rode a horse in his ring walk and faced a reluctant Julio David Roque Ler, an unknown Argentinean.
Then came Mijares.
Now Mirajes (34-3-2, 14KO) takes his spot in the limelight when he steps up to the biggest stage of his career and carries the “Noche de Campeones” fight card on his shoulders.

Until his meeting with Arce, Mijares was an obscure technician plying his wares in second tier boxing plzas through out Mexico. Early last year Mijares captured the coveted green WBC belt when he defeated Katsushige Kawashima in the land of the rising sun, proving that he was willing to travel overseas for his chance at glory.

A mere three months later, he defended against Arce.

In the clash Arce was never able to unlock the mystery of the southpaw boxer. Mijares was able to maintain the action on the outside keeping Arce at bay and never allowing the shorter brawler to get on the inside and make the fight into a street fight.

In Muñoz (32-2, 27KO), Mijares finds a man that has only been defeated twice but by the same man. Martin Castillo was able to get the better of the South American in ’04 and again in ’06, both times for the same title he holds now.

The great equalizer is the 84% KO ratio that Muñoz carries in his fists. But as styles make fights Muñoz might need more than dynamite to beat Mijares.

A direct line to Aguascalientes and find out what not to do may be a good start…

By Felipe Leon, SDFights.com

Julio Diaz at Morongo Casino

Julio Diaz, the #5 rated Lightweight in the world and former IBF lightweight champion will be at the Morongo Casino Resort & Spa, Friday May 16, for BIG TIME BOXING. Diaz will be in attendance to watch former World Champions Jhonny Gonzalez (37-6 -31 KO’s)and Mauricio Pastrana (34-8-2 -22 KO’s) battle. Diaz will be on hand to meet fans, sign autographs and take pictures.

Nacho Huizar, the lead promoter for KO Entertainment and the promoter for the upcoming "Noche De Campeones" featuring Cristian Mijares and Alexander Muñoz scheduled for Saturday May 17 on PPV. Well…Top Rank is also presenting a pay-per-view event from Mexico on the same night featuring Jorge Arce vs Devid Lookmahanak. "We had the date first," states Huizar. "They've tried to disrupt my promotion by offering some of the fighters like Muñoz more money. This is business. It's a war between promoters. But we aren't worried. We've gotten plenty of support from Fox Sports Net, ESPN Deportes and ESPN Classic among others to promote the fight card and I don't think Top Rank and Fernando Beltran have the same support," Huizar continued. "I guarantee my event will do ten times more numbers than theirs. There is interest all over the world for our fight and this will prove that Mijares is bigger than Arce."

On the same night of Oscar De La Hoya fight, Bob Arum of Top Rank had scheduled a media press conference to announcing Manny Pacquiao vs. David Diaz world title fight which was postponed due to Pacquiao’s schedule but insiders tell us this publicity stunt was just to get back at Golden Boy who has used this tactic in the past.

Golden Boy Promotions feels the judges in Las Vegas go against Golden Boy when theirs a close fight and I have to agree on that one, anyways the point is that theirs is so much drama in boxing and I LOVE IT maybe that’s why reality shows are big success.

At The Playboy Mansion

Promoted by San Diego-based Sycuan Ringside Promotions two-time and current International Boxing Federation lightweight champion Julio “The Kidd” Diaz will take on Rolando Reyes (29-4-2) from Oxnard on June 25 (Wednesday), 2008 at the Playboy Mansion, Beverly Hills, CA. that same night Shawn Hawk (16-0-1) will face Eric Fields (11-1). Oscar wants the fight, Floyd wants the fight, sponsors are already lining up in masses, venues are interested everywhere. Read more Click here.

Alexander Munoz

Current WBA super flyweight champ Alexander Munoz steps up to a tough challenge when he faces WBC 115 lbs. titleholder Cristian Mijares this upcoming Saturday night in a rare elimination bout. Munoz, hardly known in the US, is a veteran of 43 fights with 32 wins and only two losses with 27 ending within the distance. Hugely popular in Japan, Munoz finds himself now deep in Mijares’ home country of Mexico to take part in this highly anticipated championship bout. Munoz speaks exclusively with MyBoxingFans and discusses his plans for Mijares, his popularity in Japan and why he feels he should only have one loss on his ledger.

My Boxing Fans: If you win you will have two titles, how important is this fight for you and do you feel pressured.

Munoz: Yes this is a very important fight for me and I will be the best 115 pounder in my weight class with two belts.

My Boxing Fans: What was so different about Martin Castillo or what about his style was so different from everyone else? Castillo was the only one who could beat you.

Munoz: The first fight I wasn’t 100% prepared and in the second fight I think I was robbed but I demonstrated I was the true champ. At the end, the referee raised his hand and there was nothing I could do about it.

My Boxing Fans: Did you know Martin Castillo retired? And how do you feel about not being able to fight the one person who beat you for the third time.

Munoz: No I didn’t. He beat me the first time the second well… we won.

My Boxing Fans: every one knows you’re a harder hitter than Mijares, but with your one common opponent Katsushige Kawashima, Mijares was able to stop him in the 10th round and you beat him a unanimous decision. Why you think that was?

Munoz: He was boxing with Mijares. If Kawashima would of boxed me I would have knocked him out.

My Boxing Fans: Did you see Mijares fight Jorge Arce?

Munoz: Arce was looking for a Knock out and he wasn’t focused, he was wide open.

My Boxing Fans: Mijares is considered to be one of the best technical boxer in boxing, what are you going to do against him? Pressure him? Try to out box him?

Munoz: If he wants to brawl then I think I will knock him out.

My Boxing Fans: You fought 7 times in Japan, why is that? Do they treat you right?

Munoz: They like my style. They keep offering me fights, which I can’t turn down.

My Boxing Fans: Did you train for this fight as any other or did you work on specific techniques for Mijares?

Munoz: well, as you know I changed trainers and I did change some techniques.

My Boxing Fans: Thank you Munoz for this exclusive interview.

Munoz: No… Thank you

Emilio Bojorquez

One of the brightest new stars shining out of the border town of Tijuana, MX, super featherweight Emilio Bojorquez is ready to step up and take his first challenge on this side of the border when he takes his spot in a six round bout versus TBA in the Bobby D. Presents fight card “Battle De Mayo” on May 22nd, “I am ready physically and mentally for this fight. I am happy that I am going to be able to show my family and the boxing fans on the other side of the border why they call me ‘el consentido de Tijuana’ (Tijuana’s favorite),” Bojorquez states with a playful smile.

“I like to fight and win. I think for all fighters, that is their favorite thing. I like to throw punches and every once in a while receive one or two to see how much I can take,” spoken like a true Mexican warrior, 20 year old Navajoa, MX native Emilio first visited a gym when his father, a life long boxing fan took him down to the Moran Boxing Club in the heart of his adopted hometown of Tijuana, MX.

“My dad used to put gloves on the neighborhood kids and have us fight when I was like seven or eight years old. When he started taking me to the fights at the municipal auditorium and I saw the lights and the action, I knew that was what I wanted to do.” Under the watchful eye of the legendary Pedro Moran Sr. and later his son Pedro Jr., Bojorquez fought in his first amateur fight with only two weeks of training at the tender age of nine. “He showed a lot of interest in boxing and he is a quick study so that helped in teaching him,” Pedro Moran Jr. adds.

With a victory in his first bout, Bojorquez embarked on an impressive 85-9 35KO amateur career collecting hardware along the way. Emilio finished 4th in the ‘04 Pan-American games, earned gold in the ’04 Mexican national Olympics, state championships in ’04-’06 and a spot on the Mexican Olympic Committee team in ’04 thru ’06 sharing gym floor space with the likes of super welterweight sensation Alfredo Angulo, NABF bantamweight champ Abner Mares and super lightweight prospect Jorge Paez Jr.

His stay in Mexico City with the national team is an experience, which he remembers fondly, “At the Committee, it was just a great atmosphere. I was immersed in boxing and there is much to learn with all the different fighters and their styles.”

Emilio Bojorquez turned pro in the featherweight division under the searing bright lights of his hometown on Sept. of ‘06 against Rolando Lerma. “That has been my toughest opponent to date. He was a late replacement and a lefty; I hadn’t trained for a lefty. It was a hard fought four round unanimous decision. I received two cuts. But I was able to look good in front of my home crowd and I think they left satisfied and that is the most important thing for me. I was able to show my heart…”

Since then, Bojorquez has gone on a tear with a total ledger of 9-1 with seven of those wins coming in the short route. Known for his above average boxing technique and punching power from either fist, Bojorquez is not afraid to mix it up “he knows how to box but he can adapt to the fight that is presented to him. He is always in great shape, he is accurate with his punches and he hits hard. He can decipher his opponent’s style in the first minute of the bout and figure out how to beat him but still listens intently in the corner,” Moran Jr. states.

The middle child of a supportive family, Bojorquez as well as his team see glory in his future “with dedication, hard work and discipline he can dispute for a world title,” Moran Jr. says.

Bojorquez agrees “within five years I see myself with a world title surrounded by my family, none of them needing of anything.”

In his biggest fight to date, Current WBC Flyweight Champion Cristian Mijares defended his strap against Mexican crowd favorite Jorge “Travieso” Arce back in Early ’07. Mijares was able to repeatedly counterpunch Arce with crushing combinations and even appearing to almost stop Arce in the eleventh and the twelfth rounds. Now Mijares faces his toughest challenge to date as he goes against only twice beaten and current WBA champion Alexander Munoz in a rare super flyweight unification match. MyBoxingFans spoke with the man who beat Jorge Arce.

My Boxing Fans: Thank you Mijares for this exclusive interview.
Mijares: The Pleasure is all mine.

My Boxing Fans: Did you think that win over Jorge Arce was going to be easy?
Mijares: I knew it was going to be a tough fight. I have seen Arce fight and that is why I was well prepared.

My Boxing Fans: Your pro career started pretty shaky wins three losses early on, but you are in a 20+ fights undefeated streak, what changed?
Mijares: Self-confidence, I know in this sport you loose some and you win some. I set my mind to win and that helped me gain my self-confidence.

My Boxing Fans: Even though you are ranked in the top of five in your weight division on all the major lists but you are hardly known in the US and Mexico, what do you think needs to happen to change that?
Mijares: Your right and that’s my goal, I want everyone to know who I’m. After my win against Jorge Arce I got great exposure so my plan is to continue to fight big names.

My Boxing Fans: On paper Alexander Munoz seems to be your toughest challenge, how ready are you for this fight?
Mijares: Munoz is a difficult fighter; he is a boxer and that is why I’m 100% percent ready and if God is with me, I will come home with a belt.

My Boxing Fans: Did you train for this fight as any other or did you work on specific techniques for Munoz?
Mijares: I’m training the same, I didn’t change my techniques; every thing has worked for me in my past fights so I am keeping every thing the same.

My Boxing Fans: Do you want to unify the division, maybe going after Montiel if you come out victorious against Munoz?
Mijares: I’m physically well and well prepared to fight anyone. I keep hearing rumors that Jorge Arce wants a rematch so I will prefer to fight him again since it was a big success.

My Boxing Fans: Munoz is considered a hard puncher, are you worried about his power?
Mijares: I am not worry, I’m going to be cautious, I have been in the ring with powerful boxers, Arce hits hard. The fact that Munoz is a power puncher doesn’t bother me, I have a great chin.

My Boxing Fans: We all know that no fighter likes to look ahead or past their next opponent, but are planning on staying at 115 for long are you ready to conquer other divisions?
Mijares: That’s part of the plan to move up in division.

My Boxing Fans: How do you feel about Jorge Arce fighting on the same night as you?
Mijares: It doesn’t bother me; fans are going to watch my fight instead. Arce looks like his ready for retirement, his promoters are trying to bring him back, but fans will follow me you will see.

My Boxing Fans: Being the only man to break Jorge Arce’s undefeated streak, do feel any pressure?
Mijares: It’s a big responsibility. I can’t let my boxing fans down, after winning against Arce fans expect me to win.

My Boxing Fans: Your final thoughts…
Mijares: First I will like to thank all my boxing fans and on May 17 you will see two warriors in the ring so don’t miss my fight.

Mijares has a lot of class and a lot of speed and nice defense — Styles make fights and the May 17 unification title bout between WBC champion Cristian Mijares and WBA title-holder Alexander “El Explosivio” Munoz has all the makings of an instant classic.

BRADLEY DECISIONS WITTER

With the poise of a seasoned veteran, Palm Springs, California's Timothy Desert Storm Bradley made the most of his first world title shot Saturday at the Trent FM Arena in Nottingham, England, decisioning highly regarded hometown hero Junior Witter over 12 rounds to win the WBC junior welterweight championship of the world.

Scores were 115-113, 114-113, and 112-115 for Bradley, who used a sixth round knockdown of Witter to help earn the victory.

"This is a dream come true, not only to win a world championship, but to wear the green WBC belt all fighters want to hold," said Bradley. "I thank Junior Witter for this opportunity, and the judges for rendering a fair verdict even though I was a challenger fighting in the champion's home country. Witter and I showed what world-class boxing was all about tonight, and I promise that I will hold on to this belt for a long, long time."

The 24-year old Bradley, a two-time National amateur champion, improved to 22-0 with 11 knockouts in his first pro bout outside of his native California.

"I couldn't be prouder of Timothy Bradley after this performance," said Ken Thompson, President of Thompson Boxing Promotions, Bradley's co-promoter. "His win tonight proved what we've been saying about Timothy for years - that he is the best junior welterweight in the world and one of the game's future superstars."

Added Gary Shaw, President of Gary Shaw Productions, Bradley's co-promoter, "I knew when I signed Timothy Bradley that he would be world champion. Bradley's spectacular work ethic combined with his hunger were the elements that worked tonight. He is a class act with alot of character and good family values that add to his commitment to the sport. It is those attributes that catapulted him into being a champion for such as stellar organization as the World Boxing Council. I am always confident in the WBC's selection of judges and tonight reaffirms the faith that I have in them."

A hostile crowd in the beginning received the judges decision with solid applause and appreciation for the new champion in what became a huge upset in boxing.

"I couldn't have done this without my team, and I can't wait to see where we go from here," said Bradley. "Look out world - we're here."

The Don and The Scorpion

We all know that the DeLaHoya vs Forbes fight brought out plenty of celebs from the boxing and entertainment industries. Due to Steve Forbes, it also brought out a bevy of Contender stars. I ran into Jaidon "The Don" Codrington at the fight as he was hanging with Sakio Bika. On November 6th of 2007, they met in the best Contender fight ever and Bika came out with a 7th round TKO victory in what was a strong fight of the year candidate.
The Don now looks to get back into the mix at Super Middleweight. He is only 23 and sports an 18-2 record with 14 KO's. The Don was a 2002 National Golden Gloves Middleweight Champion. My instinct tells me he will battle for a title at some point and after seeing him fight many times, you do not want to miss him in action. He is a very fan friendly fighter and can hit hard and be hit hard. I believe he will tighten his defense and wreck some people in his weight class. He is tall at 6'2" and he may even be a factor in higher divisions as time goes by.

Look for the Don back in action soon and myboxingfans wishes both Jaidon and Sakio much luck in their future bouts.

July 26 at the MGM Grand

Bob Arum of Top Rank announced last month that WBA welterweight champion Miguel Cotto would defend his title against Antonio Margarito of Tijuana, BC on July 26 at New York's Madison Square Garden.

Insiders have just notified MyBoxingFans that a new location has been chosen for this Mega fight between Puerto Rico vs. Mexico the fight will be at the beautiful MGM Grand in Las Vegas. I don't know what it is, when a man can't make a decision in his own life. I know I got the last word in my household and I’m sure Richard Schaefer CEO of Golden Boy Promotions will agree with me.

If in fact Shane Mosley does not reschedule his canceled pay-per-view fight against Zab Judah, don't be surprised if Mosley looks to make a fight with Ricardo Mayorga, seemingly the only other viable name option available to him. The Mosley-Mayorga fight was originally supposed to take place in early 2004, but Cory Spinks' upset victory over Mayorga in December 2003 foiled those plans. FYI Jin Mosley is Sugar Shane Mosleys wife and manager.

Shane Mosley vs. Zab Judah Cancel

Three-time champ in two divisions, Zab Judah, 36-5, 25 KOs was going to face Four-time champ in three divisions, Shane Mosley, 44-5, 37 KOs, for the chance to get a rematch against undefeated Miguel Cotto.

Notice I said WAS, insiders are saying that the May 31st fight between Mosley and Zab is off and so is the co-main event Jorge Barrios vs. Rocky Juarez. Judah suffered multiple severe lacerations on his right forearm and received 50 stitches to close the wounds suffered in an accidental fall. As a result, Judah will be unable to train for four weeks and was forced to withdraw from the bout. The Hight Stakes was schedule to take place at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, on May 31.

MyBoxingFans was the first to announce this breaking news and will be the first to information you how zab cut him self. An inside source spoke with Jack Mosley (Shane Mosley's Father) who stated Zab Judah cut him self from a shower glass door and that is why he received 50 stitches to close the wounds. Apparently he fell in the shower.

Timothy Bradley

Undefeated 24-year-old boxer Timothy Bradley, of Palm Springs, has traveled approximately 2,100 miles total for his 21 professional fights. In fact, he has fought exclusively in California and never traveled farther than 230 miles from his hometown. Since turning pro in August 2004, Bradley has fought in Ontario (11 times), Corona (five times), Santa Ynez (three times), Los Angeles (once) and Lancaster (once).

As he put it 'I owe everything to boxing and I don't want to fight anymore if I can't go at a world class level.'" Castillo was stopped by Fernando Montiel in the fourth round on February 16, 2008 in a super flyweight title bout in which Montiel was defending his World Boxing Organization belt. The 31 year old Castillo, a native of Mexico City, finishes his career with a record of 33-2 with seventeen knockouts. He won the WBA super flyweight by defeating Alexander Munoz on December 3, 2004 in Laredo,Texas.

Diego "Chico" Corrales anniversary

It’s been one year today since the tragic death of Diego "Chico" Corrales. Corrales was killed in a three-vehicle accident near his Las Vegas home. He was 29 years old. Corrales was riding a 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycle, traveling northbound on Fort Apache Road in the southwest part of the city, when he attempted to pass another vehicle at high speed. Corrales struck the back of a 1997 Honda Accord, Las Vegas police spokesman Sgt. Tracy McDonald said: "The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m. PDT." McDonald said there was no outward evidence of drugs or alcohol involved. He could not say how fast the motorcycle was traveling. However, Corrales was indeed legally drunk, with a blood alcohol level of 0.25, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08 in Nevada. Promoter Gary Shaw said, "He's laying there as we speak with a helmet on his head under a sheet. It appears he was thrown a great distance". Reports say that he was thrown almost the length of a football field.

Ask any boxing fan and I guarantee they can recall in vivid detail where they were at on the morning of May 7, 2007 when news broke of Corrales' fatal motorcycle accident.
I remember when I first met Corrales for the first time at the Staple Center in Los Angeles my brother and couple other friends we’re watching the Erik Morales vs. Zahir Raheem fight when Corrales came from backstage to watch the fight, I remember he was surrounded by boxing fans every one asking to take a picture or get his autograph at that time our seats where not that great it was the upper level, my brother yells from the bleachers “Corrales do you have time for the little people!” and I remember it like it was yesterday Corrales stopped looked at us and started to walk towards us and said “I have time for all the little people” and he just chilled with us for couple of minutes, and to us that was priceless for some one like Corrales to take the time to say hi to nobodies he earn our respect.

Diego "Chico" Corrales (August 25, 1977 – May 7, 2007) was a former super featherweight and lightweight world boxing champion. "Chico" had a professional record of 40-5-0, with 33 wins coming by way of knockout. His first confrontation with Jose Luis Castillo on May 7 2005 will go down as one of the greatest fights ever; this was the fight that sealed his legacy as one of the greatest lower division fighters ever.
